I have five hen's that I have raised since chick's. They are 6 months old now. I have one RIR that recently has started pecking me. Today while I was letting them out she attacked me. She pecked 4 bad places on my leg and one on my hand. She is laying so I know she's not a rooster. The other one's are so sweet and will jump in your lap. I just don't know.

:welcome Show her who's boss. Don't be sacred when she pecks you. Get a broom to shove her away with. If she comes back at you again just go back even harder.

I've had the worse time with red birds. Any that I've had have become aggressive. All have been raised from chicks. Some have no problems with them. But not me lol

I have one that gets that way... like when I have to go get her out of the neighbors yard she gets all chesty with my leg but she really one gets aggressive when she's on a nest. I've heard that if there is no rooster some hens will assume the role of him protecting the flock and even trying to crow. I have 4 rir hens and one rooster and they are all referred to as the crazy red birds. 2 hens are psychopaths and 2 hens I think have ptsd ( from minor incidents with other animals) and my rooster is gigantic but a big ol wimp

I got 5 RIR and they're assertive and friendly, when they were 5 months old and just started laying two we're pecking one another and pecks me when I get in their coop. I normally pick them up and or pin them down and pet them and they eventually calm down after few weeks.

I have a Easter Egger that pecks my pants but its to get my attention to pick her up or pet her. Once I say hello to her and give her a pet shes is perfectly fine. She is also one of the tamest chickens I have. She follows me around all the time.
