Rhode island red combs

Isaw in acouple of the hatchery catalogs that they have single comb and rose comb and red and dark red.chickens. Are the sc dark ones a purer breed? they were more expensive.

I won reserve grand champion with a RC RIR cockerel. He was awesome. Anytime you get birds from a hatchery they will not be the dark quality that you get from a breeder who has pure birds that have been developed for their color and other traits. The color has everything to do with the quality of birds. Hope that helps.
