Rhode island Red rose comb

Here is my RIR rosecomb Roo that won Reserve Show Grand Champion in Nov last yr. I have one Roo and one hen. I bought eggs from a Master Breeder named James Swanson and if you look up the RIR club of America it will list the some of the Master Breeders and I believe he has contact info on there. I am not keeping mine separated for eggs.

BamaChicken: Wow, that's a beautiful bird. I thought mine had a lot of "sheen" to their feathers, yours is a shiney as can be. Beautiful tail. I'm gonna go check out RIR Club Of America as soon as I'm done here. Thanks for the tip. In the lower picture the two on either side of the Roo are hens or is the one in the back a roo? Trying to figure this chicken sex thing out

Today I tried to put another hen in with them and they went nuts. The hen I put in is the one I call RedChicken. Don't know what beed she is, but she was my first chicken. She's very calm and seems to get along with all the other chickens, so I thought I'd give it a try. They attacked her immediately. They are quite a bit bigger then she. One jumped on top of her and started pecking, and when she got away the other chased her into the nesting box. Had the whole coop in an uproar. I took her out. Maybe tomorrow I'll put them back in the large pen with the Black Orps and put the Buff Orps in the breeding pen.

Yes the one in the back is a young cockeral and the pullets are all around 6 months there. They are now hens and Roos and much larger especially the Roo. His tail feathers are all filled out.
I would not put one poor little hen in with two boys. It would be rough on her. They will both be fighting to get on her.

Yea, Bama I found that out. They were on her in a flash. Don't think they were trying to breed. They just appeared to be attacking her. Took her out immediately. After some holding, petting, and a few treats she settled down. I'm gonna put the RIR's back in the big pen where they were originally and put two buff orps in the breeding pen. I know one of them is a female, I've seen her lay an egg. lol. That will give me some practice incubating and rasing chicks before I start with the RIR's.
I posted on the RIR Club board and mentioned that you sent me there. Maybe someone will help me out. I found James Swanson on the membership list, but no contact info. The RIR club seems like a very good resource, probably worthwhile joining if I'm gonna get serious with RIR. If you happen to run acroos anyone with good quailty RIR eggs, chicks or hens that your not interested in I sure would appreciate a heads up. The more I read about this breed the more I like them.

Here are some pictures of my RIR. Can anyone confirm first off that they are a male and a female. Any other comments are welcome. Like I said before I'm just gettingh started and can use any advice.

Please excuse the messey coop, I'm remodeling.

The egg production became slower when my sister-in-law decided to feed her table scraps to my chickens while I was at work; needless to say, after I stopped the table food and only feed them laying mash and scratch food mixed the egg production increased.
