Rhode Island Red Thread!

Pics
HAHAHA! Yeah My daughter's mini Rex rabbit gave birth last night. We went out to check on the babies when my supposed to be hens started to crow LOL! They are cock a doodle DUDES!!!

The two Rhode Island Red pullets that I got from Meyer hatchery look very dark red to me. I think they look dark enough to be Heritage RIR. Am I imagining things?

Has anyone else tried or seen the RIR from Meyers? What did you'll think?

None of these are very good pictures....

I asked the same question on the Heritage RIR site, and they said that there is no way my girls can be H RIR if I got them from Meyers. They were saying that it is more than just the color.

So, not sure what is correct, but I know I love the darker color on my two girls, and they are pretty sweet too! :D so, I am happy, whatever it is they are.

As you can tell, in the pictures the one RIR that would pose for the camera, is next to the Leghorns. I think the white makes the RIR look even better.

GOOD NEWS! my roosters have been replaced with 2 beautiful & mature red star hens! They are soo big!

I love Red Stars. They lay super large eggs and start to lay around week 18-20. Mine live at another home right now due to some noise issues that the neighbors threw a fit over but I still visit them. I have bantams now but they don't have Red Star bantams so I had to settle for easter egger and RIR (parent breeding to Red Stars) bantams. Trying to get rid of bantam roosters right now. Most of my Cackle shipment EEers are roosters.

Sure do miss those gigantic eggs my Stars put out though. I think I have photos of my girls at thegoodloeacre.weebly.com if anyone wants to check them out.
