All chickens go broody, so yes
Out of 63 Rhode Island Reds I have worked with I have only had one really go broody, so it is possible, but not a common occurrence. My Australorps have been a different story. Are Rhode Island Reds supposed to go broody?
The ones you are holding look near exactly like my new chicks. I did, however, search for a breeder that their birds had true heritage RIR traits, like having the dark mahogany -almost black- in colour plumage, as well as a really nice and defined brick body shapes.
Hey guys! So I'm a bit confused. This is a pic of my first group of RIR's (with some black sex links and barred rocks in the picture also).
These chicks have since died, but we are starting up a new flock after securing our coop. I noticed that my new baby RIRs don't look anything like the RIRs I see all over the internet. They seem extremely dark to me?
