Hello, been getting all my advice from here and decided to sign up. I am completely new to this chicken stuff and have ran into something confusing. I bought 5 RIR, 3 straight run australorps 2 weeks ago and then 2 days later bought 3 more australorps and one buff. I have all 12 in a 72"x30" metal trough with a 250w red bulb at the end and food and water in the middle. All the birds are getting big but the RIR's are about the same size and all I noticed is their wings are filling in. Is this normal for these birds or am I doing something wrong? Also they always have food and water available and the crumbles are 18% medicated.
Thanks for your time

OK thank you. That's what I was wondering since it was all the RIR. Should I ever separate the others from them? They are two-four times bigger?

i would separate them if the others are that much bigger just to keep the bulling down. chickens do grow at different rates so i wouldnt worry just yet. when they are in a pen alone and can get all the food they want you may see a slight growth start. maybe since they are a little bit smaller they have been pushed back. hope all goes well.. i think you will love your RIR chickens cause that is what i have and mine are awesome and strong...
