Rhode Island White Thread

Pics
I just changed my males around and put them into the breeding pens I wanted them in. The rest went to freezer camp. It will be at least a month before I start to incubate. I want to make sure they are fathering the chicks. I am going to experiment with hatching Rose Comb RSL's.

This is an older picture of my whites. I still have these females.

Well you night see if you can order eggs from Frank Reese. He is hard to get a hold of and hard to get him to follow through but if you can get them from him you might get a few good ones. I would order no less than 24 and probably 36 that way for sure you will get at least 12 to hatch if not more.

I found his FB page which hadn't been updated in years, is he on BYC?
@SpringPeeper The Standard bred poultry site has Frank Reese hast them and he sell chicks and eggs. If you can get a hold of him and can get hatching eggs, I can hatch them for you.

If he packs well and you order 24 you should get at least 50% to hatch. I have had much higher hatch rate on shipped eggs but you just never know.

I can ship eggs now if anyone just wants some RC RIW eggs. The male the girls were with is an ok male but I think the boy I just put in with them is a little better as far as the SOP suggests. He got a Best of Breed when I showed him last but he was still growing and filling out. When my older Roo died one of his sons was in the same pen. I really don't know how he got in it but they seemed to get along so I just left the cockerel in that pen. Last week I swapped him around with his brother (Lucky) who I had taken to the shows.

I'll try to get in touch with him.

How much would be it for your eggs? My area code is 95988.

You sent me a PM and I sent you one. California is a long ways.
Oh, sorry! I've been trying to track down so many sources I must have forgotten talking to you already. That's embarrassing. I just checked and I did PM you a few times in August trying to get a price, but your birds weren't laying then. I guess you decided CA was too far too ship, then? Ah... at least I'm on the wait list for SandHill, if nothing else. I'll keep trying other avenues.

Distance does not matter since they go by air. What matters it the distance from the service center to the airport. Airborne flies them. if the distance is close enough for the shipment to go by truck then USPS will ship via truck. For that reason, hatching eggs shipped from the East coast to California usually do better than eggs shipped from Washington State or Oregon to California.

I hatched eggs that flew from Spain to San Francisco--That is a lot farther than this is.

It is an acceptable risk if the seller knows how to pack the eggs correctly.

Ship the box and packing materials to her and give her my packing instructions. It is a Win Win for everyone since we cannot find good SC RIRs out here.
