Who knows...but it is always worth a try. Franks two breeders are the only ones that really put out a lot of RC RIW's so he is our best bet. If you want the data base i have started send me a PVT and I will send it to you.

Well girl you need to share your instructions...LOL

How many can you get in a box?

I have a ton of the USPS if it fits it ships kind of boxes and usually can get 18 in an 18 ct carton sometime 24 if I use two 12 ct.

If someone wants a dozen I usually ship 15 eggs. I have used the different sizes of boxes too just depending on how many eggs I need to ship. Right now I'm checking the fertility. I have sheets of 3' x 6'- 3" foam that I can cut to any size I need.

Sarplaninec,

I think I answered all of your questions in an PVT except for the difference in combs and laying. There should not be any difference in them. The RC usually lay better in winter than a SC just because of the cold and the SC getting frost bite.

Example of this weeks production for each line is:

RC RIR Carlow line - 7 pullets M= 6 eggs T= 5 eggs W= 7 eggs

RC Underwood line - 7 pullets and 2 Hens - M=3 eggs T=3 eggs W= 3 eggs It could be that the pullets have not started to lay yet but...

RC RIW's - My line 7 pullets M= 7 eggs T= 5 eggs W= 6 eggs So far I have never gotten any lower than 4 eggs in a day and that could be my fault...moved them from one pen to any other pen, changing feed on them to a higher protein level.

RC RIW's - Other line 1 hen M= 1 eggs T= 0 eggs W= 0 eggs This is her second season to lay and is in a stud pen so the rooster could have something to do with it. Last year she would lay 6 eggs out of 7 days from Feb-Nov - molted and just came back into lay a few weeks ago.

RC RIW's - Other line 1 pullet M= 0 eggs T= 1 eggs W= 07 eggs This is her first season to lay and is in a stud pen so the rooster could have something to do with it or she could be eating her eggs.

My commercial sex-links, there are 32 birds in the pen and I get 20-30 eggs a day. Average I would say is 24 a day.

Are the RIW equivalent to RIR when it comes to egg laying?

Also is their a difference in egg laying between the rose comb and the straight combs?

I'm not sure about your part of the country. I have both RC and some SC RIW and SC and some RC RIRs. All are pretty good layers. Right now my SC RIRs are laying the best. Everyone slowed down during and after their molt and not too long ago started picking it up again. My Whites haven't been doing quite as well as my Reds. Yesterday out of 12 girls in one of my SC Red pens I got 10 eggs and I got 7 out of one of my RC White pens. The Reds have been a little more consistent on their daily laying. I think Rob's are doing better than mine.
