Rhode Island White Thread

This coming Saturday (July 8th 2017) will be our monthly Dunnellon Tractor Supply Company Farm Swap. I will be bringing some young Rose Comb Rhode Island Whites. They are excellent layers of of nice large brown eggs. These are still quite young, about 3 months old. I will have both males and females if anyone is interested in breeding.

Tomorrow is the Crystal River Mall Rural King Farm Swap. I will be bringing some 2½ and some 3½ month month old Rose Comb Rhode Island White pullets. They are very good layers of large brown eggs. I also have a couple of egg turners that will fit most styrofoam incubators.

i love my very friendly RIW, they are the most friendly chickens i think in have ever met, mine are more friendly than all of my australorps , my Delawares, my SLW, and all the other breeds RIR, BR, NHR, CW, in my flock of 75 , i have 8 RIW they are really very sweet & tame by nature, & were ever i go they are always with me, they are even friendly towards the cats... HA  here is an example,as to how they act , they just go out of their way to be friendly...! and THis what their personality is like.

A true bred RI Red is not aggressive. That simply isn't my experience. Those hot blooded, souped up, top laying, rusty orange hybrids sold by the hatcheries as Rhode Island Reds (sic) may indeed be. I'd have no idea, but 99% of the time when someone posts about an "aggressive" RIR and posts a photo, it isn't a true Rhode Island Red at all. FWIW.
i have a few RIR & i can hardly tell they are around , no fighting or meanness at all.

My pure male birds are not aggressive in any way. I did have a male Red Sex-Link several years ago that was. I sold him. Most likely he was going on someone's dinner table.

i have a RIR Roo now , but i have to say he is pertty good so far , he shares a giant 40x40 foot pen with a New Hampshire red roo, the boys, as i call them are very good so far , but i once had a killer NHR roo that we had to shoot because he was so mean , so i didnt know what to expect from the RIR roo , hearing stories that the RIR were mean , but my RIR's are not mean or aggressive in any way , and the roo is the better tempered of the 2 roos, the NHR started to get a little pushie with me when he was about 8 months old, so i had to stop him from doing that and now the both roos are doing just fine they were a year old at the end of august. so im pretty happy with my RIR roo & hens they are all pretty sweet with no problems at all .!:thumbsup im glad to say ...!!:)
