Hi Rhode Island White thread! :)
I'm from Michigan, and we have had chickens for nearly a year. We are LOVING being parents to our flock! I'm reading up on different breeds, and true Rhode Island Whites are intriguing me.
We are hoping to find some rose comb true Rhode Island Whites not from a hatchery. Would anyone on here be willing to sell and ship any?
Thank you!

Welcome!!!

i would say that most of the commercial hatcheries only have SC Rhode Island whites which by APA standards are not correct Whites. Finding really good RC Whites is really hard. So far I would think the suggestions below might help you.

There are several good starting places.

Duane Urch.

He is an APA Judge and has a great hatchery but they are not the hatchery style birds. Best to call him in order to get chicks. Chicks run $6.00 or more per chick but you are getting fairly nice quality birds from him or that is what I have found.

I have never had good luck in e-mails to him.

Ryon Carey Lives in Kansas and

is a part of the Frank Reese group. From what I have seen probably has the best APA quality birds. I have one pullet that would go up against any of the RC Reds and would win. These two pictures do not do her justice but will give you an idea of his quality.

Just took this one because I could not find the first one when I was looking. The other bird is one of my Columbian Wyandottes. I have had my line of CW's for well over 30 years.

There is a breeder her in FL who has some nice birds. Cmom I believe is the name and think they came Sandhill Preservation Hatchery.

I am sure there are others but hope this little bit helps you find what you need and want.

My birds are descendants of birds that came originally from Sand Hill Preservation. They are great birds.

Thank you so much you have been very helpful.

Now I have to decide what to do with what I have, probably just keep them as I am very attached to Mabel and Bluebell already, the boys gotta go even though they have great personalities I only need 1 or 2. So I wonder what the heck I have, maybe they are "mutts". You wouldn't happen to know anyone who sells RC RIW's in small quantities would you? Something about these birds is very beautiful to me and would like to have a few someday. Maybe when it warms up I will see about getting some shipped. Thanks again you wouldn't believe the time I am having and disappointed to find I didn't get what I thought I was buying. Happy New Year to you.

I do sell trios (a cockerel and 2 pullets). Where do you live?

I just moved to Kentucky NE of Lexington and got a farm, where are you? Let me find some homes for my boys and get back to ya, how much do they go for and do they handle shipping okay? I just love the RIW's thanks. I think I might have another boy now who is a lemon cuckoo orpington, boy is he gorgeous real light lemon yellow with lighter striping, just noticed he/she is walking different than other two upright and with an attitude, we'll see. Again thanks

Cmom, where in Florida are you? My brother is going to Disney next month. It's a far stretch, but are you anywhere near there? He's a farmer, and said he would be willing to transport, but I'm doubting that you live near Orlando...

I live on the west side of Ocala in Dunnellon, FL which is about 2 hours west of Orlando.
