Ribh's D'Coopage

I can understand this. It can be worked through though I've found. Cillin for example went through a period after he was accepted by Fat Bird and Ruffles of not bringing them down to the house. I used to go and check on them during the day and I could tell he wasn't terribly keen on my presence. I let him work through it. It took a few weeks. Eventually they all turned up, Cillin looking and acting very much like the man in charge, herding Fat Bird and Ruffles needlessly just to show he could.
It changed a lot when Ruffles sat and hatched her first clutch. While she sat, Cillin had Fat Bird to himself for a while and I think Fat Bird enjoyed this. She certainly made him run around after her. Once the chicks hatched then Cillin was a family man and very pleased with himself he looked. Fat Bird sulked when the chicks were old enough to follow Cillin and Ruffles around. She ended up visiting me a lot for a while.
Wow. They are just like family! :D

She named Phyllis. I named Sydney and Sansa. I'll post pictures when I have better cell service.

Chicken supposedly tops out at 14.5 mph, so the lizard wins the foot race. Hopefully the chicken would take advantage of those wings. 🤔
Monitors can rear up on their back legs & even run on them so I wouldn't hold out much hope for a chicken against a determined lizard.

Definitely wouldn't want one in or near my coop. I had raccoons getting in near my birds houses at night and couldn't figure out how. Luckily, they didn't get any that went to bed properly. It was then that I discovered the highway in the sky. They can climb trees and jump from limb to limb. They would climb the tree outside my electric fence and drop into the pasture with the chicken houses. The good news was there was no way for them to get out. It became common practice to take a rifle out when letting the birds out of their pens. We took six coons in one week, two that were rabid. Now that we've introduced Todd, he eliminates coons and other small ground predators.
I'm glad rabies is not something we have to deal with. :(

I wouldn't say I'm allergic to noise but I like it quiet enough to here nature at work here. But, in the evening, if the mood takes me, I like to listen to music at a respectable volume.
See my response to Ribh...
I like to be intentional with what I listen to & watch. I don't appreciate either tv or music as *background noise*. I find it irritating. I give music my full attention when I have it on. :D
I like it quiet as well. But when I listen to music, I want to hear the full range of dynamics. Mom used to complain when I listened because the "music had loud parts" When I was practicing to play the 1812 overture I had it pretty much full volume and listened intently for the nuances across the different instrumentals and especially my parts. Mom surrendered and bought me a headset. She was then totally confused as I would play a part, then play it again, then again... Until I finally got it right. But without the music in the background she couldn't follow what I was doing. My favorite piece was Contrasts by Jimmy Dorsey. It took me more than two years to get from the sheet music to his live concert. Finally figured out that every concert was different and he didn't read sheet. But when I latched onto a piece I just couldn't let it go.

I ate the first one, but was afraid after the two with rabies to eat the others. Raccoon is a good eats animal if it's healthy. As a general rule, I don't want to kill if I'm not going to eat it, but I have to change the rules when I don't want to eat it, but it wants to eat my birds.

We went through this with YD for every performance, every audition. I always enjoyed listening to her & got to know the music well enough I could pick anyone's faults in the performance. I think this is partly why I am now so intentional. I was unintentionally trained along with my daughter. :lau And it is why I rarely listen to popular music any more. The complexities of classical give my brain far more exercise.

I was classically trained and ventured out all over the place. Loved Jazz, but never any good at it and kind of settled on the big band era. Oh, I so love the big bands.

I believe that it can be made to work. With time and patience boundaries can be established and everyone can coexist.

The thing is, your relationship with them will be different. It has to be. Not necessarily worse, but different. You need to remember that.
