Thank you. Yes, I don't know what happened. She was fine until all the wet weather, then she suddenly went downhill.I am sorry to hear this news.
You know I love those Vorwerks.
Thanks ACM. I did everything I know to do but she just didn't want to live anymore. So sorry Ribh. You did well with her by the sound of it. I guess sometimes there is nothing you can do with "failure to thrive".
At least she was safe and warm and with a friend up until the last. It's the best anyone could hope for.
Thanks Bob.Good evening folks
Jeannie, so sorry you lost one![]()
Thanks, Lozzy.I'm sorry to hear that Ribh.![]()
I would love to see video of Portia chasing the Vorwerks. That sounds hysterical. Perhaps she just finds it fun to do.My 2nd bantam layer is my little white Japanese girl, Ceres. The lad is totally charmed with the size of her eggs.View attachment 2654414
Meanwhile Hepzibah, who assiduously avoided going broody on me this summer, suddenly changed her mind & began hogging a nesting box & hoarding eggs!I found poor old Titania squished in behind her desperately trying to lay her tiny egg while Hepzibah brooded . Hepzibah didn't mind. She just added that little egg to her clutch!
And Portia is a raving lunatic! She has taken to chasing any Vorwerk she sees around the yard. She gets down low, extends her neck & snakes round the yard @ a ferocious pace. The Vorwerks scatter before her. No idea what her issue is. They are all higher up the pecking order than she is.
