@Ribh did you remove it or leave it hanging?

How's Aoife's spur?
It looks like it is not attached by much. Were you able to snip it off? I'd have styptic powder or a saucer of corn flour handy to stem any bleeding if you do.
I'm surprised it's not bleeding already. Is she limping?
She's limping a little, which is what alerted me something was up. I haven't removed it @BY Bob . Do I need to & what would I use to do it? I'm not sure what the lads got lying about. I had to buy a pair of scissors. Do I need to clean it? That could be interesting!
I believe that it is going to come off one way or another. I would remove it myself but I am no expert on spurs. I would say wait for @Shadrach to weigh in on what to do and how as he has experience with these but I'm not sure when he will swing back through. I will reach out to him. I see no downside to talking it out other than it is likely a two person job and I expect it to bleed pretty well. She's limping a little, which is what alerted me something was up. Ouch!Aoife appears to have broken one of her spurs.
Do I need to do anything & if so, what?

OK, thanks Shad. I have a chemist in walking distance & will try there first. Otherwise I will have to wait on a son turning up & being free.Ouch!
That needs to come off now Ribh. There is no way that will heal back on.
You will need to cut the rest off. I use a scalpel but scissors will do if they're sharp.
You need to clean it really well. It looks like it may have been broken for a while. Use Chlorhexedine to disinfect it. Best if it bleeds a little. It will have bled lots when it broke.
Spray the Chlorhexedine on the wound, lots, and leave it to soak in.
Inspect the whole foot making sure there is no other damage.
I use Pine Tar to cover the hole in the leg, once the wound is spotlessly clean. You can't half measure this because there is a major bloood vessel from the spur to the body and infection will travel fast.
Good luck with the procedure Ribh, I hope it goes smoothly.OK, thanks Shad. I have a chemist in walking distance & will try there first. Otherwise I will have to wait on a son turning up & being free.
