This is my Ha'penny.
She's a golden Campine, a breed that is not supposed to go broody.
This morning I heard an odd sound in the yard ~ a sort of burbling bok.
Ha'penny was trotting round the yard sounding quite distressed. Normally, when she is looking for somewhere to lay she runs round screaming her head off.
This morning I found the nest she & Beatha have been laying in & removed all 8 eggs. I can only think the girl was about ready to sit & this is her broody sound.
That's 3 times so far this summer! ​

I only have 1 just now ~ & 1 silver. I did have 5 @ one time. I absolutely love these girls! They're not everyone's cup of tea but I think they are smart & funny & decent little layers as well.

They are a gorgeous colour but they don't like confinement, are good foragers, good fliers & really loud screamers. They can be quite difficult to manage.

I don't have a ,,screamimg" hen but a very VERY talkative one that's even louder when she screams. Oh I guess I have a screaming hen after all!

That is Olivia. She is a D'Uccle frizzle & didn't get the memo about being a chicken. She likes to roost on me & has been known to groom me. She's broody just now & I miss her.
