lol There's a gap in what fencing I do have in the back corner, never mind higher. Not sure what to do about the fencing yet. The girls have only been in the back yard once & 1/2 of them absconded into the neighbours. Luckily she's cool with them.you need a higher fence![]()
No kangarooslol There's a gap in what fencing I do have in the back corner, never mind higher. Not sure what to do about the fencing yet. The girls have only been in the back yard once & 1/2 of them absconded into the neighbours. Luckily she's cool with them.
Nice to have good neighbours that way.No kangarooshere but… Our neighbours put up a fence used for concrete building and planted ivy against it before we came to live here. The fence gaps are 10 x 10 cm (4”) wide. The chickens are trespassing through them, the neighbours don’t mind at all either.
Yay!The chicken coop is here...
Unfortunately it arrived without instructions, an omission I am attempting to rectify.

In other news, those who have been following along know I was hoping to move somewhere I could keep a rooster & close my flock.
Consequentially, I began asking around as soon as I arrived: who has chickens? what breeds? anyone do fertile eggs? etc
Silkie roosters on offer @ the hardware - but I've never been a fan of silkies. Lots of big breeds & high production hens but I like my small standards & bantams.
For all you cynics out there, the last place I expected to find my chickens was @ church, & a church, mind you, of just 17 people. However chickens I can get of breeds I am happy with: booted bantams & frizzles!
@Shadrach advice please as you're the roosterist. I can take a frizzled rooster just starting to crow or a frizzled rooster chick with a pair of hens. Which would you recommend? Either way, with so many mature hens, I expect any rooster, however feisty, will quickly get put in his place. Anything I should anticipate ~ & yes, I'm about to reread your article!
Wow!The sunsets are something else up here!

Given you are living on your own I assume the sofa sections are for the cats.
