I thought it was going to be peaceful tonight.
My 1st 3 had settled peaceably.​

Then this.
@1:12 & 2:54 someone makes a sound I've never, ever heard my hens make before.​

Just after I finished filming all hell broke loose . Hepzibah got nearly everyone off the top bar ~ except Lottie. For some reason Lottie was accepted but everyone else had to start over. It wasn't pretty.

Which one screamed like that? I have also never heard that noise before. Mine have been tussling every night. It's either Hattie and Lilly or Hattie and Aurora but I have never heard that before.

I've lost count of the number of fires burning across the state.
Two are still out of control & a state of emergency has been declared.
We are nowhere near any fires
but this is smoke haze this morning. They are huge.

It did weird things to the sunrise.​

I'm not sure Bob. The 1st scream was from within the coop, so obviously not Ha'penny. I would have suspected one of the Campines, known screamers, only I was looking @ Tuppence the 2nd time & Ha'penny was outside the 1st time so it's either Lavender or Patricia & of the 2 I suspect Lavender. She's not an overly chatty girl usually, certainly not raucous, but she is quite aggressive @ times & that certainly seemed to be an aggression noise. And she was throwing her not inconsiderable weight around last night & pacing the roost, obviously agitated.

That was truly a weird sound - would have been perfect on Halloween.
