Ribh's D'Coopage

Oh haha!! I love it!!! That is just fantastic! I wish hubs would take an interest... I can’t even get him to look their way :barnie.. when I talk about them.. he DOES NOT listen :he... if he liked them at least I wouldn’t have to hear him gripe when I need his handy skills!

I am hoping so bad that some of my little Cochins are frizzled :fl.. but I’m afraid three of them are boys :idunno.. someone on another thread said maybe and I Googled it and it appears so... but they are still so young so here’s hoping!
I wish I could have got more frizzles ~ but I got the only one she had. She is glorious. Sweet, a bit of a clutz & definitely gorgeous! The abundance of cockerels is why I don't do chicks. They are often the prettiest but pretty useless all things considered.

Actually & truthfully a baker's dozen is 13. Check it out on google. You wouldn't want 13 to I still say shoot for more.
lol I was being funny. Strange Aussie humour. I think I am pretty close to my regulation limit but as my neighbours don't seem to mind & they like the eggs... :D

Yes, I agree.. I think I would love to have a sweet and gorgeous roo but I don’t think I like the idea of shenanigans going on all the time ... and I would love to hear a rooster crow daily but I hear they crow hourly.. that could get old! And so far I have done well.. I’ve got 11 hens/pullets... the new babies that I picked up for Nilky were straight run as I don’t think they can sex bantams... so that’s where I might have pressed my luck :hmm... don’t know what I’ll do if I got some roosters :idunno

I actually love hearing a rooster crow. lol But it's the one thing I know all my neighbours don't want. Both lots asked if I was getting a rooster & were very relieved to be told no. Personally I prefer a rooster to one lots ghastly music choices but there you have it. I do need to consider them. No need to spark a feud when there's no need. And honestly, a crow several acres away is a different thing to the one under your bedroom window! lol

Oh yes! For sure!
All of my neighbors that are fairly close are old .. including my mom! So I don’t think any of them would even hear it! Even if it crowed all day :D

Wow. Expanding already! She looks a little dark to be an ISA ~ . Waiting to hear if Sandy has arrived yet. :)

She's arriving late afternoon around 6!

I'll keep her in the little coop for a week or two. Until I know she's not sick. The little coop and the big coop both open onto the run, so they can talk between the wire, which is good because I don't want her to feel lonely.

Eventually I'll merge her with Mary and Janet and hope for the best while they sort out the pecking order. Luckily, the coops + run provide more then 17m2 so there's loads of space for running away and hiding.

Can't wait to meet her! :D

And lots of piccies so we can *meet* her too. :)

The older girls went en mass to the nesting boxes. I've never been able to figure this lot out. Hepzibah is my only consistent layer & she has an entourage any time she heads for the nesting box. Two or 3 get in all together but whether it's for company, moral support, or because they think egg laying is catching I have no idea.

My two once sat squeezed into the one nest, but they both produced an egg. Weird. There are three nests for two birds, no need for doubling up.
