Ribh's D'Coopage

Good evening folks :frow I've only had one case of lice/mites here and I was too late. I treated everyone, even though only the one bird had them. Makes me wonder how only one can get them?
Yeah. I've been trying to figure that out too, Bob. I have one definite. No~one else seems to have them yet they all roost together, squashed up close.

Ever have one of those It seemed Like a Good Idea @ the Time moments? I get them @ Lincraft, which is where I buy my crochet supplies, & they happen because I rush so as not to keep the man waiting. I should not rush. I should stop & think about these things. There are consequences... I saw this:View attachment 1970575
I thought it was pretty. It has a shimmer to the yarn. I thought it would be perfect for the butterfly prayer shawl/scarf I was itching to try.

So I bought it.:th
It is 100% rayon. Which means it slips & slides every which way & is impossible to grip. It is killing my hands to work with it.:( @ least now I have got the hang of it so long as I don't drop any stitches ~ @ which point it promptly unravels rows & rows of hard earned work!:idunno If I can get it done in time this will be part of YD's Christmas present. At this point I am not holding out much hope. It is incredibly slow going...

On a completely different tack, the *stilts on legs* have arrived: 3 cute as a button plover chicks. Sadly the plover chicks aren't the brightest sparks around & the parents are dopey. These probably won't reach maturity. While mama plover was angrily shouting Danger! Danger! Here to me! Her offspring were running excitedly in the opposite direction.

That looks really pretty Ribh. Let her know it will be one-of-a-kind! :gig

Those plover chicks are adorable.
They may be stupid but they have good camouflage going for them, it took me a while to spot them!

Don't forget mosquitoes and leeches! Leeches! urgh :sick
Leeches really freak me out. I always carry a lighter with me when hiking because I can't abide them critters! Quickest & easiest way to dispose of them & they ain't breeding no more. :sick

Thank goodness no leeches here that I know about. I think they hang out around water?
They like moist, humid conditions & you will get them in any tropical or sub~tropical areas, not necessarily around water. The are sneaky & silent. Often the 1st you know about it is a gush of blood when they drop off. They are totally gross!
