Ribh's D'Coopage

I figured how could I have hens and not have a Henny Penny! Lol! Yes, we can have a roo, but im not sure if I want one. My plan was hens. A good friend might take him. We'll have to see!
There's been quite some discussion here on occasion on how a rooster changes the dynamics of your flock. I have all girls & a close relationship with my flock. A rooster would come between me & his girls. That's his job of course but I'm not breeding & have few predators so have no real need for one. :)

That is the way I feel too! We do live in the country, so predators are always possible, but I'm just really not sure about a Roo!

He’s so gorgeous and very affectionate, you should be able to find it pretty easily.

Type in “rooster cuddles Grace” and it should be the first one (I don’t want to post the link as it’s not my thread!)
@LozzyR : feel free. I'm not precious. :D You are more than welcome to post here.

I'm sure they know who Marlow is already and besides if little Phyllis isn't afraid of Davis, why would your lot be afraid of silly Marlow.
I'm sure you're right, Bob. I love how their heads all come up when the wild birds call, checking it out. I'm sure they understand. There is always a period with any new girls where they are super alert until they learn what the normal bird calls are around here ~ & which are alarms. They all respond to alarm calls, though some are more likely to assess the risk before bolting & some just bolt ~ like the Campines.

AUSSIE PEEPS!
On the off chance anyone sees or hears anything:
A breeder near Stratford [Vic] had 21 Vorwerk hens & 2 roosters stolen last week. That's 2 years work on a breed that's quite rare out here. :(
And they're not laying just now either. 🙄

She's understandably quite upset.
And keep an eye on your girls!

That's terrible! I was worried about that and bought a second dog crate so I could bring my girls in at night, but I think we're ok here.
