Ribh's D'Coopage

Suyin has lice. We've been battling them for a while using the spray.
She's been super good about it, letting me lift her feathers & squirt her in undignified places but a few days ago we ran out of spray so I have been grooming her by hand ~ much to Suyin's delight. She has been enjoying the extra protein! 🤮 And the attention. The man was astonished to find her lying practically comatose in my lap while I trawled through her feathers after nasties.

Today I resorted to Pestene dust ~ which I've never used before & am not a mad fan of because I don't like anything that is powdery like that. Hopefully it will knock the problem on the head because I think the lice have got used to the other stuff & it's no longer working as it should. Thankfully I only have one hen with a problem though obviously I will have to nab everyone @ some point & give them a good dusting. *sigh*

The next job will be Lavender's butt. She is such a grub & now her poop has set like cement around her butt she will be getting a fluff trim ! That will be a circus. She's not mad keen on being handled.

As most of my girls sleep in the bedding, I dust it with Pestene dust and it seems to keep them pretty lice-free. I rotate it with a neem leaf powder, plus I have a spray that I think is different to yours.

Neem stuff is brilliant. I had a tree but the drought did for it before it established properly. Where do you get your powder? And which spray are you using? I get what my produce store holds but I think I need to rotate.

Oh no! That is not fun. Poor girl. Give her a pat from me and tell her it will be OK.

Hey there, Bob! :D How are things your end?
Going well. Work is slow, which is good. And Sue's improving every day. Even better. Now if I can only convince her to eat.... I don't care what the scale says, she's not moving around much right now... EAT! Her headaches are much better, we had a momentary laps as we changed one of her meds, but we're back on track and lowering her Tylenol doses.

I’m so happy to hear this ❤

I use the Avitrol spray, and their wormer is strong too and kills many species of worm. There’s a withholding period though. Here is the spray, I’m not sure if it has a different active ingredient to the Vetafarm one.
