Ribh's D'Coopage

How on earth did you manage to go through 12 schools? That would have been awful!
My dad couldn't stay in one place! Some years I went to 2 or 3 different schools in the same school year! We almost moved to Australia so my dad could work on the oil lines...something to do with oil...he was a Jack of all trades, he did offshore drilling & construction in the winter & we all worked the fruit harvests spring through fall! We swear he was part Gypsy! It was a bit rough!

I home schooled my children for a few years, something I never thought I would do & that is where I continued my education!
I have to confess...I liked pirates & highwaymen...but those were my romance novel reading years...😂
Ah well, my reading was far less romantic & my thinking rarely falls in line with modern thinking because of it. When you know who were *indentured slaves* & what the pirates mostly traded in you become very cynical about people sprooking stuff they have limited knowledge & even less understanding of. It all begins to feel like manipulation & I loathe being manipulated.

The man worked on the oil rigs in the desert for a few years. Hard yakka.

I'm not shy but I do find socialising hard so changing schools so often would have wrecked me. So many new people all the time! :(

I definitely understand that pirates were not truly romantic figures...it was an ugly way of life! I don't like being manipulated either!

It truly is hard yakka/work...I looked that up...😁 My education continues...:love
My dad would tell us that we were going to stay in a location, but the next thing we knew, we were on the road again! I think that's where I gained the ability to be super flexible with the things life threw my way! I have to admit the changes Covid has brought, showed that my flexibility has stiffened up a bit...lol! I did get to see a lot of my country, I've been to more than 28 states & lived in almost half of those...from California to Florida! So a different type of education! I made friends easily, but it became harder to want to get too close to someone, knowing that the time would be short!

I have to agree with that, I loved the earlier books, but I still enjoyed the later books...there's quite a bit of sci-fi in me...I'm also a blend! :gig
Oh I like sci-fi as well. But something of the charm was gone. Somehow she wound up making the world less interesting by turning it into sci-fi. I can't explain it but somehow I would up disappointed.

History as she is taught in school is mostly very dull. :lau I was lucky. I began reading archaeology very young & learnt there is another way of learning it. :D
I love history. I have many histories on the bookshelf. I think maybe after Cornwell I will target a good history to learn something. :D
