Ribh's D'Coopage

Thanks, Shad. I will be ok but for some reason Mhari's death has really affected me badly. I don't know how long she was where I found her, struggling. I'd just got the flock to a really nice place: optimum numbers, everyone getting along well, all healthy & apart from going broody Mhari was one of the easier chickens I have & then this! No warning. No nothing. I had an Australorp bantam go a similar way. I saw her laying in the nesting boxes. Ten minutes later when I went to collect the egg she was dead under the coop. :idunnoI always wonder what I missed.
Sometimes there is just nothing to see! I'm sure you didn't miss anything, so I hope you don't make yourself feel worse by thinking, what if...sometimes these things happen! I went through this with several pets over the years...it never gets easy! :(

Thanks, Rene. :hugs My head knows these things but my heart won't run in tandem.

Not in natures contract do give out death warnings.:old
I know it's hard Ribh. As you've doubtless worked out I've had a lot of chicken deaths here. It was quick. If she didn't show any signs of being sick then in a way it was a result; a shock, but far better than hanging on sick and in pain.
When I found Harold dead on the coop floor one morning I was very shocked. He was, as far as anyone could tell, as fit as a fiddle when he went to roost.
