Ribh's D'Coopage

Thanks for the concern everyone but I am not in a state of misery as Shad so aptly put it. 😝 I had surgery on one of my hands Friday so even though it was minor my hand hurts... :( Then I picked up a bug which has put me pretty much out of action the past 2 days & to top it off Soda has joined Hepzibah in broody jail. [laugh away @BY Bob] Another first! 🙄 Of my BRs only Patricia is still operating as usual. Egg production has plummeted. While most of my smaller girls lay regularly they don't lay as often [which must be better for their overall health] & Medh has stopped laying altogether. If I was going to lose another hen suddenly my money would have been on Medh, not Lavender. @MaryJanet: can you post a pic of the vet recommended feed & I will check it out next week when we go to buy.

@MaryJanet & @Aussie-Chookmum Thank you for your thoughts. I have considered spiders. We have red~backs & something that is related to a funnelweb. I would have expected to see signs of paralysis with a tick. Of the snakes we have ,only the small eyed is small enough to get in I think ~ though you never know with snakes & I would have expected them to target the eggs rather than the chooks.

Everyone's kindness is much appreciated. Thank you all. :hugs:hugs
Good morning! I'm so sorry you've not been feeling well...I hope everything is much improved today! Sounds like your girls are still keeping you on your toes! Have a beautiful day! :hugs 💗

I cheat when I can. I wait until they leave the nest and steal the eggs. I'm lucky in that I rarely get hens prepared to sit on nothing for long.
I worry that they know I do this.:hmm

That’s why they visit your house; it’s a covert operation to see if they can find where you hide all their eggs! :D

More demanding. :) They are rather spoilt & expect to have their demands met instantly. I will let them out shortly as we won't be here tomorrow & they will be confined for the duration.

I wonder if they were cats in a previous life? ;)

For some reason mid~afternoon is when all the girls decide foraging activities in the garden are in order. I don't really mind so long as they stay away from the veggies but I have been sick & decided to round everybody up early yesterday & put them back in the coop. I'm setting down tubs when I realise I'm 2 short. Beatha was hanging round the edges of the coop, reluctant to be confined so early but Alpia was nowhere to be seen. Alpia is one of the special ones. From the moment she arrived here I have been her safe harbour. I began calling her & back tracking to the front yard. She shot out from amongst the bromeliads & palm trees chirping happily & pleased enough to see me, trotting @ my feet back to the coop. She is not hard to handle but she gave me a terrible fright. She doesn't usually stray so far from the main flock.

What's really interesting is when I'm responding to posts & I feel like there are just getting to be more pages...then I realize it's because I've responded to so many...:gig
