We never wanted to visit our paternal grandparents growing up. They were from the "children should be seen and not heard" generation (My Nana was born in 1901). We were expected to sit quietly while the adults talked or play with a small box of broken, 20 year old toys. The back yard was pretty dull too.![]()
My maternal grandparents were like that.
It was very dull & my grandmother always got upset that we didn't like visiting. My favourite aunt's place was a much better deal. She had a tree house in a Jacaranda, an outside dunny, a bath tub full of water lillies & gold fish, bees, chcikens, cats, dogs & a wonderful garden full of great cubby holes for children.
