Here, uni maths is for very fast learners. I looked at a first year maths foundations course outline and it went from polynomials in week 1 to calc in week 2 to stuff I didn't recognise in weeks 3-13.

In order to get a degree in the sciences 2 semesters of calculus were required. I did ok in the first, 101 but 102 was beyond the grasp of my poor meager mind.

Sadly, not really available when I went to school. I think there may have been an HP calculator which cost over $150.

I wasn't allowed one in High school either. Not that it would have helped. You still have to remember what to do & how to do it.
