Ribh's D'Coopage

They're miserable, poor things, but when I noticed Desdemona showing similar symptoms I immediately pulled her thinking how nice it would be for Ceres to have company.

Perish the thought!
All this guff about chickens being social! They have discerning friendships.
Ceres has never run with Desdemona. My Desi is a quiet accommodating little chicken who is not adverse to being handled & takes her medications with good grace trusting I am trying to help her. Her friend of choice is Portia, my large B&W frizzle Wyandotte. Portia prefers Gloriana, no matter how mean she is to her. Ceres runs with Titania, who shares her feisty, flighty atomic presence & she is peeved no end to find Desdemona sharing her space. She has a nastier case of the pox too & is jolly miserable. We are not on top of the coccidea either & Ceres hates the Baycox. She won't eat bread it's on. She won't drink water it's in. She fights like a demon if I try syringing it. The sooner the Amprolium arrives the better!
Meanwhile I have to fish Ceres off the top of the shower stall each night, where she tries to roost as far away from Desdemona as possible & I am wondering how many more chickens my bathroom will be forced to accomodate before we are done with the pox. So far no~one else is showing symptoms. :fl

They do have distinct friendships and those they prefer to be with. I can't imagine Phyllis and Sansa stuck in the bathroom together. I hope the meds get the soon. :hugs

Oh no. Poor things look very sad.

Have you tried putting the baycox on cheese?
It's .04ml ~ which is quite a lot. The bread soaks it up; it would run off the cheese & my girls aren't cheese eaters but thanks for the idea, MJ! If I ever get a cheese lover I will keep that in mind.

If it was dry I'd give them a run outside to lift their spirits but it is just constantly mizzling.
The coop door is open to the big run but all the big girls are huddled under the coop out of the wet. This weather is not helping with getting things under control here. I'm not game to move the Vorwerks & they are keen to get out into the run even though there has been some chest bumping through the wire from the Wyandottes. I will consider it once the Amprolium arrives & I can dose everyone up before moving everyone around. I'm trying not to make any mistakes or take too many chances when the ground is so soggy & until the last 2 days or so the older girls have all ignored the Vorwerks so I have been able to free range them through the yard. When it's like this everyone stays closer to the coop.

That is a most terrifying thought! :eek:The meds should have been here. I ordered them weeks ago but covid has stuffed the mail up along with a lot of other things. At least it's not forcing me to move countries!

Josh stays!!

Rich announced tonight that Josh is staying permanently. Josh is coming out of his shell a little more each day. His finally vet check is the 29th and the next step would have been placing him up for adoption.

Rich decided he didn't think Josh would do well with a different home so he gets to stay! Josh seems to be quite happy since I told him.

I'm so sorry Ribh! It's hard to watch them suffer. :( Hopefully things will improve quickly. How soon will the Amprolium arrive? I will continue reading and if you've already answered this I will share a SHRA picture...:D

It's not Wednesday in your heft if the words yet. You've got time. 😁
I just wanted to join in for 2 days in a row, not just one...that's one of the advantages of having friends downunder as well as in my heft of the woods...:D Did that sound whiny, I'm sorry if it did...it was a very exhausting day on our little property today and then in town!

It's hard not to like Rich. He's an old softie. Tell him I said he's a good man! 👍
