Ribh's D'Coopage

Is it just me or is his posture improved? He is looking more roostery to me. 🤔
Well, I think he's been acting more roostery. There isn't much bossing about to be done in the run, but out and about he's finding himself pretty busy.

Kirby got rushed to the Vet today. He was close to having a ruptured spleen. Symptoms came on suddenly over the weekend but he has responded to treatment & is doing well.
But what I wanted to share is:
My vets keep chickens!
Some of those free ranging today.

A chicken keeping vet is an excellent find.

I'm so glad Kirby is ok. :hugs :hugs What brought the spleen on?
Not sure but probably stress. We all know how much cats like change. 🙄 They're even worse than chickens! He was doing ok I thought until I had a super late baby sitting night. Guess he was worried I wasn't coming home @ all & my cats are super attached to me.

Oh my.
First, how did you know he had a spleen problem?
Second, chicken vet? Not around here, you are quite lucky.
I didn't. I thought he had crystals ~ which block the urinary tract. He couldn't pee ~ which is obviously something of a problem. The vet said the spleen was so enlarged it was in danger of rupturing. He is doing well & I will hear from the vet again shortly. They all think he's a sweetie~ Hah! 🤣

This is a large practice ~ about 6 vets & about 1/2 keep chickens themselves but this is the 1st time I've seen chickens free ranging the premises.

I agree. At least they don't think you're daft for caring about chickens.
We had new cleaners start today. One of them saw Nyssa outside the window, exclaimed “There’s a chicken out there!”, whipped out his phone and showed me a picture of his eight girls!
