For Caturday, Davis has a new cat tower.

Technically they all do but Davis has claimed it.

Henry is such a good boy!
I've had a couple of fosters with me for the last month. The youngest adored the chickens. Not even Henry fazed her. She begged & begged to be allowed to hold him. I hovered. However good, he's still a rooster but he was so sweet with her.​

That is wonderful. Spreading the love of chickens, teaching lessons, and, best of all, helping those in need.

I went down to put the chooks up for the night & found a newly hatched chick flopping about outside the nesting boxes. No idea where it came from as everyone seems to have the right number of eggs & I have no extra sitters, though my lot are being their usual crazy selves. The 4 sitters I began with are not the 4 covering the eggs now. The ginger frizzle is ferocious & draws blood. She seems to have taken over from her mum who is an experienced mother. Sweet, docile Chavi has moved in with her & is busily stealing eggs. Bellatrix has taken over from a ginger frizzle & has Mustard Seed in with her. I popped the chick in with them - no issues & they have an egg pipping so that should work if the chick survives. It didn't look too good & I have no idea how long it had been there. It was still damp so very, very new. This chick raising business is going to make me old before my time!

The chick appears to be doing better. She has 2 mums keeping her warm.

We have 2 chicks out.
Bellatrix & Mustard Seed have one. Their 2nd egg hasn't progressed since last night.​

The Mad Woman & Chavi have one. Their chick looks strong & healthy.
Both chicks are very pretty & look to have their ginger mums' colouring.​

If everything hatches I'll be back up to the 20 chickens I left the island with.
Surprisingly, with 4 sitting and 4 or 5 moulting I am still getting plenty of eggs.​

Thanks. My girls are good at arranging for staggered hatches despite my best efforts to limit eggs and check daily for accumulations. I am hoping for some more frizzles but the lass I acquired them from said she only got frizzled chicks when she had a frizzled rooster. Leonard, sadly, is no more so I will just have to wait & see. Initial inspections are not indicating anything frizzled.

Hopefully you will get some frizzled. So sad that you lost Leonard.
