I thought the tribe was doing pretty well until this happened.
It's been a while since anyone was sick.
A cursory look on-line suggested Chavi had a respitory infection but naturally it was the Easter weekend, we have a fuel shortage & the vet only arrives once a fortnight & is always booked out- apart from the fact the chicken specialist remains in Rocky.

I girded my loins & isolated her on the back porch while I hunted up the bits & pieces I've hoarded over the years from other emergencies. I've been swabbing the eye with warm water & giving her antibiotics & to my infinite relief her eye was open this afternoon & the swelling has gone down. Still not 100% but definitely heaps better than it was. Hopefully she can rejoin the tribe in the next day or so.​

My gosh that was certainly scary. Glad you were able to help her so far.

I added a few slices of onion under the roost where my RIR sleeps. It help to keeps the nostrils open.

Hope she will be better soon.
