Have you updated your Windows 7 installation to Service Pack 1 (Win7SP1)? If not, that would be a good start.

Uninstall Google Chrome. Reinstall Google Chrome (Download, again, from Google). Same with Firefox. Then try both, on BYC, again.

IE7 under Windows 7 is rather unusual, from the client (end-user) side (I wouldn't bother with it under Vista or XP, either - would rather use IE6 than 7).

Completed steps as requested. The issues I was having with my rich text editor went away for a few posts, then disappeared again. Inability to edit profile never changed.

Do you have potential access to a friend/family member's computer(s) with an internet connection?
If so, attempt to sign-in to BYC and edit account (also see if the RTE works consistently - sign-in/out - view REPLY options in each thread viewed).

Please post those computers OS/Browser and results.

I logged into my friend's Asus Win7IE10 computer and the problem still did not resolve.

How good a friend?

Have your friend sign-up for a new BYC account. When activated, observe posting options/attempt to edit profile. (and, hey, maybe he/she will end up liking chooks )

Report results.

P.S. If ANY problems occur with BYC, on friend's computer under IE10 - then use the F12 KEY to open developer window - choose IE9 and try again. Report that, as well.

Update:
Logged into said friend's currently inactive BYC account and rich text editor was still not there. She uses IE10 on Win7 Asus. Could not edit profile either.

I have logged in using my mobile device (iPhone 4S with iOS 6.1.3) but using the DESKTOP layout (I personally do not like the mobile version that much.) and found using the rich text editor and ability to edit profile were possible.

Try this: Open Chrome. Go to settings: Advanced Settings/Privacy/(check mark INCOGNITO MODE): Try to edit account (or go to POST edit and if RTE options don't appear hit the REFRESH button).

i am running IE9 and having the same problem. When I reply , I do not have the rich text editor options.
