Ridding of Chicken Lice

I wouldn't put the permethrin in a dust bath.

It is a powerful drug.

Personally, using a dust was too fiddly for me.

I have always found permethrin in a spray. A quick spray under each wing, and under the vent while everyone is on the roost. Easy and fast.

During the day rake out all bedding, sweep out all dust. Spray the coop, a light spray all over. Air it out, it will be fine by night. Yes, put in fresh bedding etc.

In about 7 days repeat.

Then you are done!

The warnings are designed to minimize damage to non-target bugs (arthropods of all sorts) on land and in waterways. It is degraded in the environment by microrganisms. The half-life ranges from several weeks to several months. If it is applied in the coop and on birds it will stay there and not do unintented damage as it degrades unless it is quickly washed away.
