Here's how this will work: DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS HERE!!!!
To enter, please post your riddle (question only-no answer!) as a reply before March first.
PM me the riddle AND answer (and your name, if you want to be called something other than your username). Please make the subject of the PM "Riddles" or something like that so I know what it is.
I will then, on March first, take all the riddles and post them together in one concise, numbered list. This will be the Master list.
To guess, wait until this master list is up and then cut and paste it into a PM (subject "answers" or the like) to me, answering as many as you can using ONLY the power of your mind (No google, that's cheating!) Answers before the Master list goes up will not be counted as it would mess up scoring for later entries. The answer deadline will be March 21 so I have time to calculate before April first, when I will post the answers and winner(s)
Once I have all the guesses, I will total the number of attempts (ie total entries) and the number of correct guesses for each riddle. This will give me a score to determine the best riddle. Whomever stumps the most people wins. I will notify the winner(s) by PM the same day I post the list of riddles with their answers and scores here. I will also have a winner for most riddles answered (again, please don't cheat!) This will be on or before April first.
The prize:
I am putting my talents to work! Provided I have a nice number of participants, I will have a prize for each winner. Nothing fancy, but it will be unique. I will take a pet photo of your choice and reproduce it in charcoal, graphite, watercolor, or ink and mail it to you. Any animal you want. (Please no humans, though. I am not as good with them and I can and will use my artistic licence to omit them creatively!) Like I said, nothing fancy, but hopefully worth entering!
BUT in order to be worth having prizes, I need enough entries to judge! Tell your friends!
Why?
An excellent question. Among my many bizarre hobbies, I am currently writing a trilogy of books. One of my characters is a bit preoccupied with riddles and a very important plot point hinges on having exactly the right riddle. Rather than pouring endlessly over riddle sites or checking out copious books, I have decided this would be more fun and I have a hunch it might bring me closer to what I want. So any and all of these riddles could appear in my novel. I will of course give credit to their creators and should my books ever get published, and a free copy to anyone who finds me the riddle I need!
