Another little knowledge nugget . . . if you have a finicky incubator and prefer a traditional hatch I suggest just using damp sponges/rags. It's a lot easier to pull the sponge/rag if the humidity gets too high, or quickly swap a wet sponge for a dry one if it gets too low.

As a matter of fact I have been doing that! I read it in your hatch along notes. Since my incubator goes from 30 (room) to 60 with almost any water, then quickly uses it up and drops back to 30, a slice of damp sponge has been the way i have been keeping it around 40.

Seeing the difference is great, its kind of the whole point! I am very much looking forward to being able to see an eye, although we may have to use a better flashlight. I was also planning on photographing each time so we can make a timeliness at the end. We are talking about the biology of it as we go so the kids can see how it works, yay for homeschool projects!

So these are 21 day, regular size chicken eggs. Right? Did you put them in the incubator on Monday when you started the thread? That puts your target hatch at 9 March. Is that correct or am I mixed up?
