Mine only layed eggs in the spring. I incubated mine. I did have a female sit on eggs and just before they were due to hatch something got the eggs.

My broody hen is sitting on pheasant eggs right now and are due to hatch next week.. I was told not to put pheasants in with chickens because they carry diseases so now Idk what to do about the eggs she's sitting on.
Do I let her hatch them out and take care of them or do I take them right after they are born and put them in the brooder? I read the link you posted but it didn't say anything about my question..

Don't know. All I know is that Pheasant eggs take 24 to28 days to hatch. It will be interesting. Do you have Pheasants now?

Yes I know the gestation time as I have been hatching them in the incubator but this my first experience with a broody.. so I was unsure.
And yes I do have pheasants :)

Keep us posted. This is very interesting. Wondering if the chicks will follow your broody as their mother.

My postal carrier dropped off 24 pheasant eggs for me to try to hatch. I had just about given up when I checked this morning. I have 3 external pips and can hear pipping.and cheeping in 2 of them. Now what? I really didn't think any would hatch. What feed should I give them? Game bird starter? I will put up a run with shelter when they are big enough to go outside. I am really excited and I don't want to do anything wrong. I have only raised chickens and have no experience with game birds. Thanks for any information.

Yes, give them game bird starter. When you build their pen make sure you cover it. They are good flyers and will fly out. They start flying at a very young age. If you didn't you may want to read this thread. There are a lot of good tips. Good luck and have fun.

I'm excited to say , I will be getting on Monday my first pair oh Red and Gold Pheasants. It will be a two hour drive for me. I love this thread, it gave lots of info!
