...Ringnecks ? ... any experts out-there ? :-)

Hello.....
I live in Denmark where Ringnecks were introduced aprox 120 years ago for hunting. Now, they live here more or less like wild birds. But it can get quite cold here in the winter, and it can get tough for them. Is there any of the subspecies of ringnecks that tends to be "more tough" than others, and there-fore better survives harsh conditions ? The Ringnecks we´ve got here seems to be one big mish-mash of subspecies ..does anyone know of a site where you can see pictures of the different original subspecies? Is there any species of pheasants that seems to be even more "tough" than ringnecks, and even better at surviving in cold climate ? Is there any variants of Reeves Pheasant ? Is there BOTH a jumbo ringneck and a "super big/even bigger" species of ringnecks? (A ringneck-species even bigger than jumbos´ ? )

I know, this was quite a bunch of questions I hope you can read my bad english and i`m looking 4ward to your answers

check out meyer hatchery. they have a wide range of pheasants. also give them a call. i call them everytime i have a question about an animal on their site and they are very helpful.

Reeves do well in cold, as do eared pheasants, Cheer, and all those high altitude types.

Jumbos are nothing but big birds selectively bred over and over until they produce bigger offspring, so keep raising your biggest jumbos maybe... They aren't a species or subspecies really...

I doubt there is a phasianus subspecies that couldn't take your winter, but the more northern subspecies such as Kirghiz, Kobdo, Pallasi, Karpowi ect should do better than Formosanus or the versicolor
