lost my first chicken last night. looks as if she died of old age. all 9 (8 now) were rescues.

Awww! That is So sad!!!
I hate to loose Chickens! I already lost 2.
1 died of Stress or something and the other Chicken died of Scissor Beak. So Sad! RIP little Chicken!!!! RIP to mine also!!

That is actually something to be congratulated on-- that your chickens have been so well protected that the first death in your flock is from natural causes. It's sad, of course, but you still should be proud that you have done SO well by your flock that not one has been victim to predator or accident!
