I'm so sorry about your hen. BRs are my all-round favorite breed. I've lost several of my originals to internal laying and almost lost my oldest BR, Ivy, last year so I know how that feels.

Aww, she was a pretty girl, so sorry for your loss, but she clearly had a well-loved life.

I do have to say that the (brave little) Toaster may be the best chicken name I have ever heard. I am still chuckling over it.

We still have four of Toaster's sisters - one is named Kazoo because she always walks around humming to herself...more than the rest of the chickens. She's pretty funny!

Then we have CC - she has a cross beak, but it has not affected her ability to eat, so she was not culled...she's thriving and growing nicely. CC stands for ChrisCross - our youngest started calling her this, and it has stuck. Here is her silly face:
