RIP Short-beak

It all started on a hot day. I was in mums room. I was talking to my brother when short-beak my chicken ran by with a 2 feet long brown snake in her mouth!!!!

I ran outside and all the chickens were fighting over a live snake.
Mum was yelling at me don't get close.
Then May, my other chicken grabbed the snake and run away.
I grabbed the rake and killed it.

I ran inside quickly and jumped on this website but no hope.
Are chickens immune to snake venom? But when I looked Short- beak.. no it can't be

.

That same day we found her secret nest in the garage. 12 eggs.

I'm in tears writing this.

Short-beak died a pullet and lived almost all her life a battery hen and 5 months a free range hen.

Oh, that's so sad, brown snakes kill so many pets in Australia. So sorry, poor little chicken. At least you gave her 5 months away from the battery cage.

But I have to say, you are one crazy brave kid! I bet your Mum really chewed you out for going near the snake.
