My favorite Silkie girl was mutilated by a hawk this weekend.... I can't tell you how many tears were shed to find her in the terrible condition I did. This was my first flock loss. RIP Silkie!

Sorry for your loss. We lost a leghorn to a hawk attack. All I could say is I am glad that the rest were okay. I am sure she was a great girl.
I am sorry to hear that as well! I am SO thankful the others were spared...they huddled under the coop and were definitely vulnerable to being killed. I hope she died quickly, she was my favorite and such a gentle sweetie. She loved cuddling in my hands! Also my first and I hope only loss
Thank you very much. She had such a sweet demeanor every time I gave the bird call there she was...I had no idea I would grieve as much as I did, but the type of attack was also unexpected and harder to see for my first loss. The first is always hard. I'm sorry for your loss. She was beautiful.
Oh noo!! I have a Polish silkie mix and that is the only other bird I would have been very sad to lose. I am terribly sorry for your losses. I have created a much better, covered run to prevent this from happening again. My poor 5 yr old daughter found her..the whole thing was a tough experience.I'm sorry. I've lost quite a few from hawks recently. Last one I lost was my polish pullet![]()
