I just noticed the saddle feathers on one of our buffs, also 18 weeks. Her comb is the same size as our other ones. Is this one I should keep an eye on too lol

Those are just roughed up feathers she’s definitely a she!

Her comb has also started turning darker red, which means that you should be getting eggs from her very soon as well! Do any of your girls squat when you reach down to pick them up?

No I don’t notice any of them squatting

No I don’t notice any of them squatting

Looks like a pullet to me, too. Teenage pullets usually just run away from me when I try to pick them up. As they mature, they start that squatting behavior. Soon afterwards, fresh eggs in the nest boxes!

Definitely won’t be getting rid of her unless she starts to crow and makes the neighbors mad

I have 2 22 wk old barred rocks, both now have bright red large combs and wattles, coming into POL.
