RIR challenging me 7 weeks old... Please help

Cull, just means to remove from your flock. It can mean kill, but it can also mean rehome.

BUT- I would have a very hard time passing an aggressive animal on to somebody else.

Are you a vegetarian?

Thank you! I do wonder if hens act this way too? Especially at this age.

My oldest daughter is.... Does that count? It's also her chicken causing all the problems.

I don't think you can guess sex based on behavior at this age, at least not with any certainty. I have had two or three little roosters challenge me this way at 8 weeks old or so and a little "aversion therapy" cured them. Now, when they do it after 18-24 weeks, when they are mating the girls, it's not that easy to fix and to tell the truth, I've never been successful after that age. That is when their true personality comes out. The only pullets I've had do that are Delawares but that is a breed trait, testing everything with their beaks. They are mouthy little suckers, LOL.

All good info. Guess I'll just try smothering my little challenging roo with affection and see what happens.

Noooooooooo.... LOL I can never cull a living animal. If the aggression progresses or Gyspy is a male, I will rehome

You do realize that if this is your route you are either A: passing on your problem to someone else and allowing this mean rooster to breed, which is NOT smart. Or B: Someone else will put him in the pot.

Doing what's best for the animals sometimes means culling the ones who's genetics should not continue.

If Gyspy is a roo, she will go back to the farm store. We can not cull an animal, especially one that is raised as a pet. If she is an aggressive female, someone else can do the job for us.
