RIR Doesn’t Crow

My RIR has never crowed. He’s probably 7mos by now. He goes through the motions and opens his beak but no crow. Otherwise he is a happy feller. He’s got his own separate flock of just RIR hens. I have a mismatch of different hens in another coop with a bantam australorp roo and lavender orp roo that crow non-stop. They free roam except night.

Just curious. Not a big deal if he never does, he’s good to his flock.

Sometimes roosters won’t crow when other roosters are. He might be the non dominant roo.

I adopted an 8 month old rooster to breed with my hens. He finally did 3 weeks after.

I rehomed him, but the 3 weeks I had him he didn't crow.

Ok. Since he was going through the motions and opening his beak I thought maybe he had an issue.

I am curious if your eggs are fertile? I do think he has an issue, but I cannot see doing anything about it, other than culling him. If he is getting the job done, I would try and give him the best life, but I also would not be surprised if he didn't live long.
