RIR Roo or Hen

Each gender has a hewg comb/wattle.
The only way I can tell them apart is the way they carry themselves and the colored tail feathers/length of the tail feathers.

If you are referring to hatchery "Rhode Island Reds" that is partly true but if you are referring to ALL Rhode Island Reds then you are incorrect.

With TRUE R.I. Reds the Hen will not have overly large combs or wattles, both Roosters and Hens carry themselves horizontal and have Black tails.

My RIR's are 15 weeks old and you can def tell the roos from the pullets. They already have nice combs and wattles and those beautiful tail feathers are coming in nicely! My pullets have some black tail feathers coming in, but they aren't as "glorious" at the roos'.
