Hi folks - hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction. I have flock of 4 RIR’s. 2 yr old. 3 weeks ago one had diarrhoea, laying white weak /cracked shelled eggs and seems to be woddling/larger than the rest - this has continued. No change in feed etc. other 3 as per normal.
Coop is free from mites, cleaned regularly and they have a large area to roam in the garden and no other signs/changes.

They have grit/seaweed additive and are fed poultry layers pellets with whatever they forage in the garden.

Any tips/experiences of this would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome To BYC

She may be having some reproductive difficulties. I'd give her 300mg Calcium Citrate+D3 once daily for a week.

Do you notice any bloat or feeling of fluid in the abdomen?

Wyorp - many thanks for the reply. No bloat in abdomen - although she is definitely bigger than the others. I will order some of citrate - how would you deliver it? Via syringe or in water bowl? Thanks for your advice.

I just give the tablet whole.

Pull down on the wattles, pop the tablet into the beak, let go of the wattles and let her swallow.

Yes, the tablet is big, but a hen can swallow it no problem. If you wish, you can break it in 1/2 and give a piece at a time.

Thank you so much for your help. 3 days of taking calcium soops and she’s back lying strong shelled eggs and no more diarrhoea. Really appreciate your help Wyorp! Great stuff!
