Please help me with my Rhode Island Red. (I’m a fairly new chicken mom. The flock I have are all rescue chickens that I have no real history on.)
I think she has vent gleet? Green yellow white stringy poop and really swollen.
I have soaked her in epson salt a few times & applied monistat I’ve been doing so much research that I have no idea what I’m doing now 🤦🏻‍♀️ & need some guidance.
I have nystatin oral suspension & I have some miloxicam (for pain) on hand. Can I give these to my hen? Please help with treating her correctly . I’m petrified to hurt her or do anything incorrectly.
Also all of my other feathers friends are Healthy and show no signs of illness or mites etc.

This forum has been a load of helpful
Information for me & I appreciate all of you!! Thanks in advance

Can you please post clear photos of the hen, her vent and the poop?

Any idea of her age?

Does she lay eggs?

How long have you had her?

Vent Gleet is usually a white-ish pasty yeasty smelling discharge coming from the Vent.

You mention stringy, yellow, green poop and swollen(?) Where is the swollen - the abdomen below the vent between the legs, the Vent itself or ?

What does her crop feel like?

How is her behavior? Normal, lethargic, etc.?

Hard to know if you are dealing with Vent Gleet, something reproductive or ?

I'd see that she's eating/drinking well, check her crop to see that it's emptying and look her over for lice/mites.

Hopefully with photos and more information we can offer better suggestions as to care and perhaps what you are dealing with.
