Been following the site and getting info for awhile but new as members. We have a RIR roo and hen (the hen started laying 2 months early and lays by clockwork with wonderful results) and 4 younger Production Red hens. All of our babies are very happy and healthy. Our brood has a home made coop but are free-range for at least 18 hours daily and we recently integrated the younger hens to the coop with great results. Our roo is only 4 months old but stands over 2 feet tall and copulates with his hen no less than twice daily. Honestly, we are anxious for the PRs to grow to give Prissy a little relief lol. Our babies are fed start & grow by Purina and get alot of grubs and bugs by getting to graze the yard. We have made sure to handle each bird regularly so they don't become too aggressive (especially the roo) and could not be happier with our brood so far. We're looking forward to having nearly 3 dozen eggs per week and sharing with the neighbors!
