Older hens eating younger hens eggs

We merged our two adult hens in with our younger flock (about 4 months old now) and prior to this, the two older hens started laying and then eating their own eggs. Once we merged the two and the younger ones started laying, we are no longer getting the eggs. We don’t know for sure if it is the older hens because it could also be the roosters. Any advice? Should we separate them?
