Roaches and gout (uric acid)

As far as your question about uric acid....from what I understand the white part of chicken poop, (or any bird poop for that matter), is mostly uric acid. I believe that birds do have the ability to pass uric acid through their feces.

I believe the white is urates. While it may contain some uric acid, it contains much more than that. Birds do not "urinate" so the white is all of the accumulated material excreted by their kidneys.

That's right too cold?
Yep. Too cold for a lot of things here!!!

I know this post is so old at this point, but from a reptile standpoint, reptile owners don't want that uric acid buildup for their reptiles either a lot of the time, especially as reptiles are smaller so the small amount in roaches are a bigger deal. If someone wanted to feed roaches, or try some out at least, youd probably have luck going on a local Facebook reptile page and asking if anyone has some larger roaches they want to feed off, or if you want to start your own, they may even be willing to split a small starter colony off for you ! I'm on this page because I only have one reptile and would eventually like chickens. I'm tickled by the idea of raising bugs for two very different critters.
