I live down south and we have huge (1"+) "wood roaches" outside, and my coop is infested with them. Turn on a light at night and they are all over. My three hens generally relish them during daylight hours, but at night even with a light turned on they seem to ignore them or are confused by the light. How can I control them? Leave a light on all night and hope the girls get lots of "fresh meat"?

How can I control them?

Liquid Sevin is what I'd use.
Spray the whole inside of the coop, and it wil killl any mites too

You could also use DE (food grade) but it's a lot more expensive

I can't stand those things either!

Like you stated though, the girls just LOVE them!! They probably aren't to interested, because its night, and they'd just rather sleep.

Left a light on last night and they eventually jumped down and had a feast. I will try that a few times and see what happens. If that doesn't reduce the population I will use something stronger.
