Road kill!

It's too early for this.....

To answer OPs question, pretty sure everyone at some point has seen roadkill of some sort. Unfortunately it's just a fact of life. Here it's usually snakes or cows, going into town its usually deer and in town its usually squirrels or cats.

I wish we could claim roadkill for ourselves. But here, it's a complete no-go. Only taxidermists can occasionally because they won't be consuming it.
I can't believe anyone would eat roadkill!!!:eek::th:th:idunno:idunno:bow:bow

Why? It's not stuff that's been there for days. When you hit deer or cows (other things too, I'm sure), usually you're supposed to file a report. That's the ones that get called and usually it's still pretty fresh, like how when you hunt sometimes you shoot the animal than have to go back to the house to get tools before going back out there (or camp if you don't hunt at home). It's not like it's been rotting for a few days.

I grew up in very rural Pennsylvania and people eat road kill all of the time back there. They will eat anything that's dead and has edible flesh. As a guest I have been offered anything from roadkill roasts to skunk, squirrel, groundhog, frog, snake, turtle and coyote stews. My husband's grandparents live up in rural Wisconsin near the border up in the forests. I commented on how there weren't any houses for miles and his grandmother said "Oh hunny there are cabins everywhere in these hills, but they are so far back that you would never know they were there. We only ever see our neighbors maybe once a year if they come out for the larger roadkill like bears and wolves." I personally much prefer a roast chicken that was freshly butchered, but to each their own. I'm sure our ancestors would have loved to have mysterious giant metal aliens run over animals for them and kindly leave the carcasses behind for dinner.

I passed a dead raccoon and a possum on my way to the vet this morning. I felt an overwhelming urge to pull out my phone and snap a few cool pictures of such a picturesque scene but didn't have time.

Just kidding, that's not true. I felt no urge.
